 Emma and The Buzz Factor jumped a perfect double clear to join an illustrious list of Defender Bramham U25 winners! Previous winners include Zara Tindall (World & European Champion), Piggy March (Badminton & Burghley winner) and Tom McEwen (Gold & Silver Olympic Medallist).
With both Icarus X and The Buzz Factor entered, Emma had two chances to lift the prestigious trophy, at one point sitting in 1st and 2nd place. A slight brakes failure cross-country saw Emma opt to pull up Stix, leaving all eyes on Buzz. Producing a super clear round and the fastest round of the day, Buzz lept up the leaderboard to take pole position. They went on to deliver a hoof perfect showjumping round to seal the deal. “He felt so good and so sharp – even in the warm up, he was really quick off the floor, and then the atmosphere [in the ring] just lifted him again,” says Emma, who turns 25 next month. “He’s just amazing. We know each other so well – actually, he’s like my old pair of slippers! – and I just love jumping him.” I love Bramham, but I haven’t always been sure if Bramham loves me quite so much,” she laughs. “I remember watching Badminton as a kid on TV, and they’d always go on about this class in particular — if somebody won it and was going on to Badminton, they said they were going to be a star. So it really means quite a lot, actually.”
